I hope I’ve been able to give you a little advice on what you can do to make your resume stand out. If you still think that your resume is the same as all the other resumes, here are some general ideas for how to make it better:-Learn about what the company does and mention it in your resume. -Brag about something that you’re really good at and why it matters. -Use strong action verbs like "resolved" and "reorganized." -Show off — include facts like how much work experience you have, or where you went to school. -Include numbers as much as possible, especially percentages. This will show you’re serious (and intelligent). The "What can you do for us?" section of your resume is probably the most important piece. It should be the main reason why they should choose you for this job. You can’t go wrong with this section, but there are some standards that apply to every job. (If your resume is not getting read at all, maybe you need to adjust it a bit. I'll help you with that next.) To illustrate, let’s look at Caryn’s resume. First, Caryn should mention what she enjoyed doing job wise. She could say that she helped update the database to update the database, which is a nice way of saying that databases get updated. But there are some things Caryn could improve on her resume: -Caryn did not tell us what she did for Uppercase (not to mention the other two positions) but her "What you like doing" section was very vague. It would be better if she included both Uppercase and/or Wallaroo (and maybe even both positions again). And what is it about Wallaroo that makes it important? Well, if she had mentioned both Uppercase and Wallaroo, the hiring manager would have been a lot more interested in her. It also shows us a little bit about her personality and interests. At the end Caryn’s resume would look like this: -Include what you enjoy doing to show that you have a passion for certain things. -Include specific details from your last job to show that you really know what you’re talking about. -Reiterate why it matters to them, especially in the "What can you do for us?" section of your resume. -Tell them why you have that skill. -List 5 things that are relevant to the position you’re looking for. -Make sure they are all relevant to what you’re applying for. I hope I’ve been able to give you some advice on how to turn your resume into a powerful document. There are also some other things that aren’t too important but still worth mentioning.-Make everything look neat and professional — we can tell when we see something unprofessional and it won’t do you any good if we don’t think your resume is worth looking at in the first place. cfa1e77820
